Details for Grease Auditions
September 12, 2016
The Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society is pleased to announce Auditions for its upcoming production of Grease, performing November 16-19, 2016.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday September 14 & 15, 2016 from 7-10:30pm. You only need to attend one audition session. Unfortunately, we are still confirming the rooms with GULC, so will have to get location to you next week.
At the audition, you will be asked to sing 32 bars (about a minute) of music in the style of Grease (you pick the song), present a 1-2 minute contemporary comedic monologue (you pick the monologue) and participate in a dance audition. There will be songbooks and monologues available at the auditions for you to choose from, but if you would like to prepare your own (or just come in and sing happy birthday), please feel free to do so. If you want to sing your own song, please bring a copy of your music--clearly marked--for our MD to accompany you. You will not be expected to have either the song or the monologue memorized (though it's fine if you do). You should wear comfortable clothing and shoes in which to dance (dance shoes are not required, but dress shoes are barred).
Everyone auditioning for Grease will need to dance, act and sing (even if you think you really bad at one of them, we need to see you give it a try so that we can cast you properly). There will be a group dance audition each night starting at 7pm, from 7:45 - 9:00pm we will be hearing monologues (individually) and from 9:00 - 10:20pm we will be hearing each person sing (individually). You should sign up for a monologue and a singing slot (they can be on different nights). We understand that this is not the most efficient of processes, but it is the least bad of the options available to us.
If necessary, you can split up your dancing, acting and singing across the two evenings. But, if you have a conflict both evenings that precludes your participation in all three elements, please drop us a note at email@example.com and we'll figure something out.
You can sign up for audition slots by clicking here.
For those who would like to get a headstart on the process, you can fill out the audition packet and e-sign by clicking here (it will be automatically e-mailed to us), or you can download it to print and fill out in advance by clicking here.
